AC fan is on but no cold air
It's always a great nuisance when you find your AC not working on a skyrocketing summer day. Thus, in case your AC fan is on but there's no cold air, first diagnose the problem yourself using a brief guide on the most common reasons for your AC's issue. Wrong thermostat settings ACs may not blow cold air due to a switch in the thermostat from Automatic to Fan. When the Automatic mode is on, a rise in the indoor temperature above the pre-set desired temperature causes the thermostat to start air conditioning. Being on the Fan mode, your AC will blow air without any cooling effect. Resetting the switch will quickly remedy the situation. Clogged filter or condensation drain Improper maintenance of your AC inevitably causes the return-air filters to get clogged with dust and animal fur, which consequently obstructs the air flow. A thorough cleaning will help you handle the issue. Dirty compressor area Being placed outdoors, the compressor unit often gets blocked with dry leaves and street dust, which prevents it from drawing in enough air. Just make sure you clean away all the things that tend to crowd the unit and there’s nothing placed on its top. If there’s no cold air while the AC fan is on, it’s better to contact a licensed technician service, as you might be dealing with a more serious problem, like a faulty compressor unit or even leaking refrigerant, which is federally regulated.
